Membership Details

The Salvage Team/Charity Group Membership is for qualified members of an Alaska State Trooper Roadkill Salvage Team that are active on the roadkill salvage list.

Rather than exposing yourself to the weather, danger, and inconvenience of traveling to and from the roadkill location to retrieve a moose, AMF does the hard work so you have time to thoroughly prepare your processing area, assemble your team, and drink a cup of coffee. This service also makes it possible for persons that are traveling, ill, disabled, have young children, etc. to receive roadkill moose.

As an AMF Salvage Member, AMF will salvage or remove ANY animal for you.

Even if it was killed by a train, poacher, or an unknown cause. Bear, caribou, horses, we will do it all.

How an AMF Salvage Team/Charity Group Membership works:

Cost:

  • Anchorage, Mat-Su, Fairbanks: $100.00 per Salvage Team.
  • Kenai Peninsula: $500.00 for each Charity Group

  • 24 x 7, for 365 days from the date of membership.

Terms of Membership

AMF will:

  • Respond to Salvage Team Member calls 24×7- before accepting any non-member calls.
  • Expend all best efforts to respond to your salvage call location within 30 minutes of your call to us. So, please call immediately after dispatch calls you.
  • Expend all best efforts to retrieve and deliver the moose that you are assigned.
  • Comply and keep you in compliance with all terms of your agreement with the ASWT Roadkill Salvage Program.

AMF will not / cannot do the following:

  • Guarantee that your salvage animal will be edible, big, beautiful, whole, clean, etc. It was hit and damaged by a fast moving vehicle! Also, there is no time limit between the accident that kills the moose and when the dispatcher calls you for the salvage. Dead salvage animals are a low priority for busy 911 dispatchers and can spoil quickly. – That being said… if your salvage animal is un-salvageable, we will deliver it to the dump for free.
  • Guarantee that all or part of your salvage animal will not be stolen before AMF arrives. This does happen on rare occasions. AST dispatch will usually hold your spot on the list.
  • Process or assist to process your salvage animal. Our liability insurance specifically forbids this for food safety reasons. – However, we are happy to instruct you on how to field dress it and connect you with butchers that will professionally process it.
  • Guarantee delivery time. Occasionally, location information will be incorrect and will cause delays. Sometimes it can take hours to extract a salvage animal from difficult locations that are well off the roadway with obstacles. Sometimes a salvage animal is in deep snow or has been buried by snow plows. – That being said, out of the last 1,118 moose delivered, 1,005 we delivered from the accident scene within 20 minutes.
  • Travel beyond our coverage areas.

Member responsibilities:

  1. Receive the call from the Public Safety Dispatcher

  5. Follow the menu prompts for your location
  6. When the driver on duty answers, tell them:
  • Your member ID
  • Where the moose is located
  • CAD Number
  • Where you want the moose delivered
  1. Prepare to receive your moose!
  2. Fill out your survey after you process the moose & email it to AMF.

Waiver of Risk & Liability Limit

You agree to extend the same “Waiver of Risk” that you agreed to in your ASWT Savage Team Application to the Alaska Moose Federation.
